OREANDA-NEWS. On 26 June 2009 was JSC SITRONICS ('SITRONICS' or 'the Group') (LSE: SITR), a leading provider of telecommunications, information technology and microelectronic solutions in Russia and the CIS, with a growing presence in other EEMEA emerging markets, announced that official delegation of representatives of Shanghai Shentong Metro Co, one of the operating companies of the Shanghai underground, visited JSC Mkron in Zelenograd, headquarters plant of the business unit of SITRONICS Microelectronics. The purpose of the visit was to study the experience of RFID tickets manufacturing for the transport companies.

During the visit Shanghai delegation has studied the full RFID-cards manufacturing cycle organized at the plant. Manufacturing process provides high level of reliability of the finished goods, full conformity to requirements of the customer and to the international standards of safety. More than 300 million RFID-tickets for transport agencies of Russia, including Moscow, Magnitogorsk and Tyumen were made at Mikron in 2008. Experience in large-scale deliveries of such innovative products makes considerable interest for intensively developing transport systems in Russia as well as abroad.

For studying the advantages of the RFID tickets the delegation of the Shanghai underground has also visited the Moscow underground, being on the second place in the world today on a volume of passenger traffic after Tokyo. In 2008 Moscow underground has completely switched to the RFID-tickets made at Mikron. The modern technological solution has allowed to improve the passengers’ service quality and to reduce costs: passengers processing time has decreased, service life of turnstiles has increased; the account of passenger traffic is effectively conducted.

The Shanghai underground, one of the youngest in the world, serves more than three million passengers a day. Today eight lines of 228,4 km operate there, five more lines are in a building stage. Next year opening of several new stations is planned.
