OREANDA-NEWS. On 01 July 2009 was announced, that Moscow International Airport Domodedovo, Russian ZOOM and FOTOTravel present personal exhibition of the works of distinguished modern photographer Lev Melikhov. The exhibition features 23 black – and- white portraits made since the 80-s of the 20th century until today. Lev Melikhov is a member of the Union of Artists, graduated the Moscow Institute of Architecture, and is an architect. But photography became his main occupation. He got his first camera as a present when he was 8 years old and has been taking pictures ever since. It has been over 50 years now. Since 1963 his pictures have been published in various Russian journals and magazines. The author always takes portraits. Love and respect of his heroes never allows him to film in motion - they all pose for him, and this is one of the most difficult genres of photography.

The photos of Lev Melikhov have been included into over 200 catalogues on art, published in Russia, France, Italy, England, Germany, Austria and the USA. He has participated in tens of exhibitions; his first personal exhibition was conducted in Russia 30 years ago in 1979. His works are also exhibited in the Museum of Contemporary Art (Moscow), the Norton Dodge Museum (of Contemporary Russian Art in New York), the Trysman Gallery (New York), The Zandman Gallery (Germany), the Tabakman Gallery (New York), the "MTA" Museum (Russia, Surgut), in the Kimpinsky hotel, Tunaycha Company (Sakhalin) and many others, also in private collections in Germany, England, France, New Zealand, USA.

The photographer generously shares his talent, he always has many students. Such people as Sergey Yastegembsky and the former Japanese ambassador in Russia, Issey Nomura, artist Natalya Berkutova respectfully call him their "sensei".

The master is constantly on the move, filming the Kurils, or organizing an exhibition in Iturup (together with Yastergembsky), or filming the Symphonic Orchestra of New Zealand, or taking pictures in Venice or Tarko-Sale or his home Vladivostok. And if not, perhaps spending his vacation in Surgut.

The exposition is open at the Domodedovo Art Gallery on the first floor of the passenger terminal until July 18th 2009. Technical partner – Fotolab.
