OREANDA-NEWS. July 08, 2009. In June the consumption price index reduced by 0.3% against May to 99.7%, informed the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).

The NBS specifies that in June the tariffs for the services provided to the population and the non-foodstuff prices increased by 0.5% and 0.2% respectively, while the foodstuff prices reduced by 1.8%.

Of the food products, in June price reductions registered the potatoes (14.5%), fresh vegetables (9.3%), dietetic eggs (4.5%), and vegetal oil (2.9%). At the same time, the sugar price increased by 3.2%, honey price increased by 1.4%.

In the reference month, the price of the fuel for road transport increased by 8.8%, medication and detergent prices raised by 1.6%, and construction material prices increased by 0.3%.

Also in June, the tariffs for drinking water and sewerage increased by 3.1%, the payments for the utilities increased by 0.7%, and the international rail transport services increased by 0.9%. It’s worth noting that for the first six months of this year, Moldova registered the phenomenon of deflation, and the consumption price index reduced by 1.8% against December 2008.
