On 08 July 2009 was announced, that according to The Banker magazine, the first in the list of the most stable banks is JP Morgan, rising from fourth place last year.JPMorgan’s takeover of Bear Stearns and Washington Mutual propelled ensured this result. Bank of America’s acquisition of Merrill Lynch pushed it to second place. Among the TOP-5 there also are Citigroup, the British Royal Bank of Scotland and HSBC.

The most profitable bank in the world is the largest Chinese ICBC bank which comprises 16 500 units and 170 million customers. Its profit for the last year reached 21.3 billion dollars.

According to The Banker magazine, UniCredit Group ranks 18th among the most stable credit institutions. UniCredit Group which is the 9th in the rating of the most profitable financial institutions has recorded a net profit of 447 million euros as of 2008.
