OREANDA-NEWS. July 9, 2009. In the first half of 2009, Murmansk Commercial Seaport OJSC handled 7.735 million tonnes of cargo (+10.3%, year-on-year), the company’s press center reports. In June the stevedore handled 1.432 million tonnes of cargo (+53%, year-on-year) including 1.386 million tonnes of export cargo (with coal accounting for 1.189 million tonnes), 19,400 tonnes of coastal trade cargo and 26,700 tonnes of import cargo.

The company’s subsidiary Agrosfera CJSC handled 66,300 tonnes of fertilizers in June 09.

In the same period the port handled 42 vessels including 21 vessels with coal and unloaded 19,105 wagons including 15,842 wagons with coal.

 
JSC Murmansk Commercial Seaport was established in 1994 on base of the public enterprise and nowadays it is one of Russia’s busiest ports. The port has 17 berths with total length of some 3,000 meters. The length and depth enables the port to handle vessels of up to 15.5 meters in draft and over 265 meters in length. In 2008 the company handled 14,329,183 tonnes of cargo. Major shareholder of Murmansk Commercial Seaport is Specialized Project Investments B.V. (63.53% of ordinary shares). The state owns 34% of the company’s shares.
