OREANDA-NEWS. On 22 July 2009 was announced, that the first open air spotting festival took place in St-Petersburg airport. Worldwide famous white nights of the Northern capital became the leitmotif and a terrific background for creating photographs devoted to aviation.

Four spotting organizations took part in the festival: Saint-Petersburg Spotters, Russian AviaPhoto Team, RuSpotters and Association of aviasimulators lovers. Thirty professional and amateur photographers worked during three hours in several places of the aerodrome.  The first ramp became the central place for shoots. The northern satellite was determined as a main location for photographers. Chosen camera angle allowed to reproduce the panorama of “Pulkovo-1” terminal, air traffic management tower, southern satellite and flying line in details.

During the action amateurs of aviation photography were able to take pictures of aircrafts arriving in Pulkovo Airport for the night stand and aircrafts hauling in the end of the day. A special luck for the camera hunters became the Airbus A-330 (Korean Airlines). Spotters took pictures of the aircraft from the ramp #2 situated near the runway.
