OREANDA-NEWS. July 22, 2009. Within the framework of the anniversary month of Latvijas dzelzcels there was launched a game Dzelzs celotaji in cooperation with a social portal draugiem.lv. The teams of 4 persons have to travel by train or another transport to 24 railway stations in all Latvia; they have to take pictures and then put the team photos in the game section of the portal, reported the press-centre of Latvijas dzelzcels.

The game was launched on 8 July and during the first half hour there had been registered sixty teams, but in a week the total number of players reached 10 382 persons, who have formed 6274 teams.

Although several teams have already became the leaders and have taken pictures in 18 game checkpoints, the intrigue of the game will start on 24 July at 12.00, when there will be announced the covered checkpoints – 6 railway stations. In order to count the points for the total score of the team, all of the team players have to take pictures in these stations. “Each minute will be worth its weight in gold, because according to the rules of the game only the quickest teams, which will reach six checkpoints the first, will receive the prizes – train tickets to Paris, St.Petersburg and around Latvia,” told Antra Birzule, Head of Public Relations Division of Latvijas dzelzcels (LDz). “We are satisfied that so many young people, the users of the portal draugiem.lv, have chosen to spend their time actively traveling and visiting railway stations nearby and far away,” she added.

Each user of the portal draugiem.lv can register for the game Dzelzs celotaji. In order not only to travel, but also to get to know more on Latvian railway, everybody is invited to visit LDz anniversary website www.ldz90.lv and to read descriptions of the stations in the interactive map. In the anniversary website it is possible to find the history of Latvijas dzelzcels, stories of the railwaymen, events programme and other useful information.
