RTS Announced Stock Market Weekly Trading Results: July 13 – July 17

OREANDA-NEWS. On 24 July 2009 was announced, that over the week of July 13 – July 17, 2009, the RTS Index went up by 10.75% to reach 925.00 points (835.23 points as of July 10, 2009). Most of the positive impact on the Index dynamics was related to the rising prices for Gazprom ordinary shares (GAZP) (plus 19.21 points), ordinary shares of ОАО "LUKOIL"  (LKOH) (plus 18.69points) and Sberbank ordinary shares (SBER) (plus 14.02 points).

The "second-tier"  stock index – RTS-2 experienced a decline closing at 812.47 points (0.18% down against 813.97 points as of July 10, 2009). Last week all the key economy sectors represented on the Russian stock market showed a positive trend. The largest rise was demonstrated by oil & gas sector with the RTS Index – Oil & Gas going up by 13.10%. Significant increase was registered in the metals & mining and financials with the corresponding indices growing by 6.5% and 3.8% accordingly. Consumer & retail sphere demonstrated a definite decline with the RTS Index - Consumer & Retail decreasing by 1.13%.

For the last week the US dollar dropped 0.63% against the RF rouble to reach 31.69 roubles per US dollar (31.89 as of July 10, 2009).

The total trading volume on RTS for the week July 13 – July 17, 2009 equaled USD6.5 billion (208.5 billion roubles*), including all types of trades. The trading volume on RTS Standard totaled USD1,868.60 million.

The week's top sellers were Sberbank ordinary shares (SBER) with a turnover of USD844.119 million followed by Gazprom ordinary shares (GAZP) with a turnover of USD491.292 million and ordinary shares of ОАО "LUKOIL"  (LKOH) with a turnover of USD189.569 million. The share of each security in the total trading volume made up 43.87%, 25.53% and 9.85% respectively.

The week's top gainers were privileged shares of Surgutneftegas (SNGS) that went up by 27.19% to USD0.29, followed by ordinary shares of ОАО "LUKOIL"  (LKOH) – by 19.40% to USD48 and ordinary shares of OJSC "MMC "NORILSK NICKEL"  (GMKN) that went up by 16.98% to reach USD 93.

The week's top losers were ordinary shares of Ashinskiy metallurgical works (AMEZ) that fell in price by 27.78% to reach USD0.195 followed by ordinary shares of FESCO (FESH) – by 15.15% to USD0.28 and ordinary shares of JSC Acron (AKRN) – by 9.09% to USD20.
