OREANDA-NEWS. On July 27, 2009 President of the Lithuanian Republic Dalia Grybauskaite received the Governor of the Bank of Lithuania Reinoldijus Sarkinas to discuss economic situation in the country and issues related with the banking sector, reported the press-centre of Bank of Lithuania.

The head of the central bank advised the state head of the operational result of the country’s credit institutions for the first half this year, banking supervision activities, situation in the loan market, and the economic development forecast prepared by the Bank of Lithuania.

The president inquired into possibilities to curtail interest rates on banking loans, measures to restore lending to agents of economy, and what the central bank of the country does to ensure the stability of the banking sector. The governor of the central bank’s board provided information on the said issues.

The meeting participants also talked about internal operations of the Bank of Lithuania and some other issues, as well as incentives to make some improvements to the law regulating the Bank activities.
