OREANDA-NEWS. On 27 July 2009 was announced, that 27-28 July 2009 - United Nations Development Program and the National Commission for women affairs and family-demographic policy under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan launches a series of trainings for secretaries of the commissions for women-affairs and family-demographic policy under oblasts, cities and regions akimats.

Participants will be guided how to develop regional programs to promote gender equality and will also have an opportunity to analyse the level of interaction between the commissions. In the course of the training the capacity of the commissions will be studied to develop recommendations for their further institutionalization. An important part of the training will explore regional expertise to promote the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).

According to the UN Resident Coordinator in Kazakhstan / UNDP Resident Representative Mr. Haoliang Xu: "The role of national agencies promoting gender equality under the UN Beijing Platform is to impact on all governmental measures and the stress should be set on effective work in the regions".

Similar trainings have been delivered in Almaty (on 20-21 July) and Pavlodar (on 23-24 July), and is also scheduled for the Uralsk (30-31 July). It is expected that trainings will cover more than 120 representatives of organizations promoting gender equality and protecting women from violence.
