OREANDA-NEWS. On 31 July 2009 was announced, that leading steel pipe and railway wheel maker Interpipe has announced that auditing group Bureau Veritas Certification has conducted a recertification audit on the renewal of the international standard OHSAS 18000:2007 for Interpipe’s Management System for the Protection of the Workforce at Interpipe’s Niko Tube steel mill in Nikopol, Ukraine. The OHSAS standard is an Occupational Health and Safety Management System that assesses risk management and aims to protect workforces.

In accordance with the new requirements for the documentation, an evaluation of the risk strategy of the subdivisions of the company was made along with a register of potential hazards. Auditors noted that at the Niko Tube mill Interpipe had defined and documented basic processes managing the protection of the health of the workforce, guaranteeing safety of labour as well as business-processes, including technological production and management of the infrastructure. According to the opinion of the specialists of Bureau Veritas Certification, Interpipe’s Management System for the Protection of the Workforce at Interpipe Niko Tube corresponds to the new version of international Health and Safety Management Standard OHSAS 18000:2007.

The recertification of the audit is carried out once every three years. Interpipe’s Management System for the Protection of the Workforce was introduced at Niko Tube in 2003.
