OREANDA-NEWS. August 03, 2009. The average salary in Moldova in the first half-year exceeded 2 673 lei (US\\$238) - by 10.1% against the same period of 2008.

According to the National Bureau for Statistics, the average salary of civil servants increased by 18.3% up to 2 345 lei, , the average salary of workers in the real economic sector - by 7.5% up to 2 865.

The highest salaries were traditionally registered in the banking sector - 5 603 lei (+5.8%), in the heating, energy, gas and water supply sectors - 4 599 lei (+8.8%), in the transport and communication sector - 3 613 lei (+3.8%).

The most considerable salary growth was that of cultural and sport employees. It constituted 21.3% and the average salary reached 2 019 lei, In the health and social protection sector the salary grew by 21.2% up to 2 940 lei and the average salary of public administration employees increased by 19.6% up to 3 255 lei.

The lowest average salary was in the agrarian and forestry sector - 1 289 (+10%) and in the fishery - 1 444 lei (+16.2%).

The salary decrease was registered in the mining industry (by 6%) and in the building industry (by 8.7%).
