OREANDA-NEWS. August 05, 2009. Moldova will pay 186.85 dollars for 1,000 cubic metres of gas supplied by the Russian giant Gazprom in the third quarter of 2009.Compared with the first and second quarters of 2009, the new price is lower by about 152 and 69 dollars respectively.

A communique by the joint venture Moldovagaz says that the price decrease is due to lower prices of diesel oil and fuel oil on the international market. The same source said that, if the world prices are maintained, the import price for the Russian gas will not change essentially in the last three months of 2009, and the annual gas delivery price will be 257 dollars per 1,000 cubic metres in 2009.

Since 2008, the tariffs for Russian gas have been revised once in three months, under a five-year contract signed by the Moldovan government and Gazprom in January 2007.
