OREANDA-NEWS. August 07, 2009. The Turkmen wine-makers gained a brilliant victory at the intentional contest of wines and strong alcoholic beverage Yalta. Gold Griffin -2009 that took place in Crimea. Two Grand gold medals, 7 gold medals and honorary title of the Best Wine of the 2009 Year once more confirmed the exceptional quality and high competitiveness of the products of the wine-making enterprises of the Food Industry Association of Turkmenistan on world markets, reported the Official website turkmenistan.gov.tm.

Like in the past years this prestigious contest brought the triumph to the Turkmen producers of ‘sunny drinks’. The title of the Best Wine of the 2009 Year was awarded to Gara Uzum wine dessert wine produced by the Geoktepe winery.

The Big gold medals were awarded to Beyik Galkynys cognac produced at the Ashgabat winery and Yasman Salyk white vintage dessert wine. The gold medals were awarded to Terbas white vintage desert wine produced at the Ashgabat winery, Oguzkent red dry wine produced at the Geoktepe winery, Byuzmeyin and Aygul white desert wines produced at the Abadan winery, Kopetdag white vintage strong wine and Sowgat produced at the Ahal primary wine-making plant, Byaslesik white desert wine produced at the Yoloten winery. The diploma for design was awrded to Oguzkent red dry wine.

It should be noted that the Turkmen wine-makers had the serious rivals. This year 65 wineries and wine companies from 17 countries worldwide that presented over 200 items of the products competed for the prizes.

The intentional contest of wines and strong alcoholic beverage Yalta. Gold Griffin-2009 is held under the aegis of the International Organisation of Vine and Wine (Paris) that was established in 1924 and unites 43 countries of the world. The contest is organized by the Magarach National Institute of Vine and Wine (Yalta), the Ukrainian Academy of Agrarian Sciences and the CIS International Federation of Unions of Wine Growers and Wine Makers and the Union of Wine Makers of Crimea.

The foreign experts highly value the fine bouquet and taste of Turkmen wines. It is not a secret that the unsurpassed quality of natural products and raw materials play the leading role, and therefore wine makers share their success with wine growers. Fr the generous sun the Turkmen vine varieties are remarkable for the high sugar content. In Turkmenistan ‘sunny berries’ are delivered to the processing conveyer from the plantations. Thus, the age-old traditions of Turkmen wine making that brilliantly confirmed their advantageous and competence in the modern age of high technologies underlie the Turkmen wine makers’ victory in Yalta.
