OREANDA-NEWS. August 10, 2009. Kazakhtelecom (Astana), a company listed on Kazakhstan Stock Exchange (KASE), provided KASE with a press release, reported the press-centre of KASE:

As a result of works by Kazakhtelecom to implement a number of infrastructure projects and new technologies in the first half of 2009 the republic enjoys an average 22.16 number per each 100 residents. Over 1.4 m people now use the Internet in the network of Kazakhtelecom.

New subscribers were connected to the network. In 6 months of 2009 179,923 telephones were installed. (128,038 fixed lines were installed in the same period in 2008). Therewith, the number of fixed lines in the network of Kazakhtelecom as on July 1, 2009 reached 3,471,800, including city telecommunications network - 2,575,115, rural telecommunications - 896,685.

On average each 100 residents have 22.16 numbers, in city area - 30.88 numbers, in rural area - 12.23 numbers. On the whole the republic increased in the first half of the year telephone density by 0.88, including in city area - by 0.91, in rural area - by 0.86.

The number of Internet users in H1 2009 reached 1.4 m, including broad band Internet users - over 911 th. The same period of 2008 saw these indicators at 850 th and over 456 th people correspondingly.
