OREANDA-NEWS. On August 11, 2009 the Federal Antimonopoly service (FAS Russia) initiated proceedings against Rosselkhopznadzor and the Federal Customs Service of Russia (FTS Russia) for violating Article 11 of the Federal Law "On Protection of Competition" (prohibiting competition-restricting concerted actions between economic entities), reported the press-centre of FAS Russia.

The subject matter of the case: justification of the actions for approving, agreeing upon and using by Rosselkhopznadzor and FTS Russia of the "List of quarantine products (quarantine materials, quarantine cargo), subject to the government quarantine phyto-sanitary control", which was approved by Rosselkhopznadzor on 27th May 2009 and agreed upon by FTS Russia on 4th June 2009.

FAS Russia believes that such actions can unreasonably increase expenses of economic entities and physical persons that bring goods to the Russian Federation, because of introduction of restrictions not provided for by the legislation of the Russian Federation.

The case will be heard on 28th August 2009.
