OREANDA-NEWS. August 12, 2009. The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) will provide JSC “Yenisei TGC (TGC-13)” with a credit to finish building of a unit No.1 at the Krasnoyarsk CHP-3. A corresponding agreement has been signed by representatives of the EBRD, JSC “Yenisei TGC (TGC-13)” and JSC“SUEK” in Moscow, reported the press-centre of TGC-13.

The EBRD will extend US75 million for the 10 years period for finishing of building of the first energy unit at the Krasnoyarsk CHP-3 on a security of JSC “SUEK” which is the main shareholder of JSC “Yenisei TGC (TGC-13)”.

“This is the most large-scale project of “SUEK” in the field of electric power industry which will allow for guaranty of reliable and stable supply of Krasnoyarsk, one of largest cities in Russia, with heat and electric power,” said Deputy General Director, Chief Financial Officer of JSC “SUEK” Vladimir Preobrazhensky.

Having finished building of the unit No.1, the Krasnoyarsk CHP-3 will be able to generate up to 1.09 kWt-h billion of electric power and 0.881 Gcal million of heat power annually.

The credit was provided for within the frameworks of the strategy of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development on support of private companies working at the Russian free market for facilities through the Bank’s program for financing of projects aimed at improvement of ecology and increase of effectiveness of energy usage. Modern equipment being installed at the Krasnoyarsk CHP-3 will replace off-market and depreciated equipment consisting of ineffective electric boiler units and coal hot water boilers. Because of introduction of advanced technologies in a large scale, a significant increase in energy efficiency of the station and reduction of discharge in the air by 14% will be reached. As a result, carbon dioxide discharge may be reduced by 237,000 ton annually. This amount is equal to carbon dioxide discharge of approximately 100,000 cars in Western Europe.

“We are sure that coal energy will go on to occupy top positions at the world energy market during this century. Nevertheless, it shall change to get rid of the image of black smoking pipes. Coal energy of the XXI century must be effective and environmentally friendly,” Deputy General Director, Director for Energy of JSC “SUEK” Sergey Mironosetsky made no doubt.
