OREANDA-NEWS. On 14 August 2009 OMZ (Uralmash-Izhora Group) (RTS: OMZZ; LSE: OMZD; OTC: UHMVY), a leading heavy machinery company with assets located in Russia and the Czech Republic, announced that its Izhorskiye Zavody has successfully completed the hydrotesting of a vacuum gas oil hydrotreater being deployed in the modernization of the Kstovsk refinery owned by LUKoil-Nizhegorodnefteorgsintez OJSC. During the hydrotesting a hydrotreater 30 meters long, 5.6 meters in diameter and weighing 800 tons is filled with water at a pressure of 167 atmospheres. For this operation 480 cubic meters of specially prepared water are needed. The unique test is intended to check for leak resistance on all weld and mechanical joints. The hydrotreater is to be shipped to the customer following successful testing.

OMZ won a tender to supply two hydrotreaters of the first and second grade for LUKoil-Nizhegorodnefteorgsintez OJSC in 2007. The contract's value was around RUB400 million. Currently Izhorskiye Zavody is completing production of the second hydrotreater under this contract. Both units are to be delivered by the end of the third quarter 2009. Vacuum gas oil hydrotreaters are designed for deep processing of oil and the production of high quality diesel fuel (Euro 5 standard).
