OREANDA-NEWS. August 14, 2009. Sweden will provide Moldova with a non-refundable financial support worth 74.5 million lei (4.6 million euros) to take a general agricultural census in 2010. This money will cover about 80 per cent of the costs of the census' works, and the rest of the spending will be provided from state budget allocations.

The taking of the agricultural census in Moldova will allow getting comprehensive information on the situation in the agricultural sector, including: structure of agricultural producers, potential of human, land and technical resources in agriculture; farmland areas, the total number of animals and poultry, number of technical units, energy potential, etc.

This data will be at the basis of the elaboration of policies and programmes on the lasting development of the agro-food and rural sectors.

The agricultural census will be organized by the National Statistics Bureau in concert with the Agriculture and Food Ministry, Local Public Administration Ministry, in line with the recommendations of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization.
