OREANDA-NEWS. August 17, 2009. "Turnover" fines for violating the antimonopoly legislation can be higher for those companies that attempt to upset FAS Russia's investigations, stated Igor Artemyev, the Head of the Federal Antimonopoly service (FAS Russia), reported the press-centre of FAS Russia.

"If a company tries to upset our investigation, created obstacles, delays an investigation for no real reason, fails to provide information that FAS Russia needs to make a decision, we will take this into account imposing a fine. In this case the fine can be increased", said Igor Artemyev.

As an example the Head of FAS Russia named "Lukoil" oil company, which is refusing to provide information upon a FAS Russia's request, necessary to make a decision on a case on abusing dominant position by "Lukoil". The antimonopoly authority has already initiated 10 administrative cases for failure to present information.

"In the near future we will determine the fines for TNK-BP and Rosneft oil companies, whom we pronounced violators of the antimonopoly legislation. Imposing the fines, we will take into consideration that the companies have cooperated with us", said Igor Artemyev.

Earlier the Head of FAS Russia made statements about increasing "turnover" fines for recidivist companies that repeatedly violated the antimonopoly legislation.
