OREANDA-NEWS. August 17, 2009. The decision was taken at the Government’s sitting. The First Vice-Premier Igor Dodon said legal entities and individuals (except for population) had paid a fine in the amount of 0.1 per cent for each overdue day of the amount of debt for the consumed gas.

At the same time, Moldovagaz JSC would pay 0.01 per cent for each overdue day to the Gazprom. It is obvious that the total amount of fines is much bigger than Moldovagaz’s losses and fines result in big gas consumers not being able to pay for current gas bills.

Basing on this fact as well as on the uneasy financial situation of Moldovan heat-and-power enterprises, the Government decided to cancel the fixed amount of fines for each overdue day of gas payment.
