OREANDA-NEWS. From 10 to 12 August, the President of Latvia Valdis Zatlers visited Azerbaijan with a delegation of entrepreneurs where also participated representatives of Baltikums Banka. The presidents of the two countries and businesses discussed opportunities for developing interstate economic relations. The major tasks of the visit were to negotiate economic cooperation and to discuss energy issues, reported the press-centre of Baltikums Banka.

During the visit, the Azerbaijan-Latvian Business Forum took place, which was opened by Valdis Zatlers and the Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliev. When opening the forum, Zatlers addressed Azerbaijan business to make use of advantages of Latvia’s environment, whereas the Azerbaijan President noted in his speech that his country has a wide scope of interest in economic cooperation with Latvia particularly in tourism, IT, science, education, and cultural exchange.

Baltikums Bank was very interested in this visit, as it is one of the Latvian companies successfully operating on the Azerbaijan market and it is looking forward to expanding its activities on the market of Azerbaijan and on the entire Caucasus region market. The state president met Latvian entrepreneurs on Wednesday to discuss outcome of the forum and the visit.
