OREANDA-NEWS. August 17, 2009. "Air Moldova" Airline, following the results of 7 months 2009, has transported about 216 600 passengers. Despite the global economic crisis, in comparison with the similar period of 2008, passenger traffic decreased by 1.5% only, reported the press-centre of Air Moldova.

However, in July 2009 the company recorded a 5% growth of passenger traffic in comparison with July, 2008.

The growth of passenger traffic is noted on such directions as St-Petersburg (46%), Madrid (4%) and Moscow (3%).

About 7500 passengers have been transported on the new direction Chisinau-Milan, inaugurated at the end of March, 2009. More than 500 passengers were transported to the new destination Chisinau-Varna, inaugurated in early July.

More than 3200 passengers travelled within "Air&Rail" program. "Air&Rail" program gives the opportunity to get from Frankfurt airport to any of 6000 railway stations situated in Germany and back. The cost of ticket includes air transportation from Chisinau to Frankfurt and from Frankfurt to any of 6000 railway stations or vice versa.

For the purpose of increase in a volume of passenger traffic, "Air Moldova" has introduced a number of new attractive projects. One of this is the introduction of the through fares for transit flights from Europe to major Russian cities – Moscow and St-Petersburg.

"Air Moldova" has joined BSP Canada effective August 3rd, 2009. This allows all "Air Moldova" customers to purchase tickets for "Air Moldova" direct and connecting flights on the territory of Canada. Joining BSP Canada significantly expands "Air Moldova" agent network – from now on tickets for "Air Moldova" flights, as well as for flights of "Air Moldova" partners can be purchased from any of 2500 BSP Canada accredited agencies inclusive from biggest Canadian cities Montreal, Toronto, Calgary, Edmonton and Ottawa.

Currently "Air Moldova" is a member of BSPs of eleven countries – France, Germany, Great Britain, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Portugal, Romania, Spain, Turkey and Canada. Starting from July, 13th, 2009 "Air Moldova" joined ARC (Airline Reporting Corporation) system. This allows all "Air Moldova" customers to purchase tickets for "Air Moldova" direct and connecting flights on the territory of USA, Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands and Samoa.

"Air Moldova" operates flights to 17 destinations – Frankfurt, Vienna, Bucharest, Istanbul, Lisbon, Madrid, London, Athens, Larnaca, Rome, Milan, Verona, Paris, Prague, Moscow, St-Petersburg and Varna.
