OREANDA-NEWS. On August 18, 2009 A delegation of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) led by Yamamoto Keniji, Head of the East and Central Asia and the Caucasus Department visited Ashgabat to intensify the traditionally friendly dialogue between Turkmenistan and Japan, reported the Official website turkmenistan.gov.tm.

The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), established in 1974 is the primary Japanese governmental agency responsible for technical cooperation component of Japan's bilateral ODA (Japan’s Official Development Assistance) programme. JICA aims to contribute to the promotion of international cooperation as well as the sound development of Japanese and global economy by supporting the socioeconomic development, recovery or economic stability of developing regions.

During the visit the Japanese delegation was received at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and held the talks at the Ministry of Economy and Development and the Ministry of Finance. The JICA experts focused on the profound potential of versatile partnership with Turkmenistan that demonstrated the rapid pace of social, economic and cultural development and was advancing resolutely on the path of progressive reforms.

The meetings are scheduled at the other sectoral ministries and research institutions of Turkmenistan.

During the visit the guests from Japan visited Turkmenbashi town where they held the talks at the Turkmendenizderyayollarty Department and visited the seaport.
