OREANDA-NEWS. On August 18, 2009 The Economic Research Center of Azerbaijan presented the results of statistic surveys of consumer prices for July 2009 in 11 regions of the country within Budapest-based ACI Fund’s institutional assistance project Alternative Calculation of Inflation Level.

According to the Centre, surveys showed that this July index of consumer prices increased by 0.59% in Azerbaijan.

“For reported period Baku observed inflation of 0.47%, while in regions 0.71%,” it was reported. Despite the fact that fall of prices for food and non food products was fixed (0.16% and 86% respectively), increase of prices in the sector of services by 4.45% resulted in inflation at the end of the month,” it was reported.

In accordance with estimations to the Centre, during Jan-July inflation in Azerbaijan was at the level of 3.01%, including fall of prices for food products – 5.28%, nonfood products – 3.96% and prices in the sector of service  increased by 4.4%.

“As compared to the index of July of 2008, index of consumer prices in the country reduced by 3.16%. At the same time, annual deflation was registered in food products -  7.17%, nonfood products – 2.54% and the prices in the sector of services increased by 7.28% over last year,” it was informed.

It was ascertained within the frames of carried out research that in July the largest reduction of prices was for fruit and vegetables - 3.14% and the largest increase of prices for dairy products and eggs – 4.13%.
