OREANDA-NEWS. August 24, 2009. Some 4.7bln RUR was allocated for the construction of Novovoronezh Nuclear Power Plant-2 in Jan-July 2009 – 119% of the plan. 3.1bln RUR was provided for construction and installation, 603mln RUR — for planning and surveying, 980mln RUR – for purchase of equipment.

Presently, the constructors of Novovoronezh NPP-2 are erecting the walls of the reactor building of the 1st unit from -5.45 m to 0.00 m with 67% of the reinforcement and 36% of the concreting work already done. They are also laying the foundations of the turbine building and concreting the subsurface part of the pillars of the power supply building and the subsurface part of the walls of the auxiliary reactor building. The construction of the foundation plate of the reactor building of the 2nd unit is underway with 2,300 cubic meters of concrete laid and 400 tons of fittings used so far.

The construction covers 52 main and 91 temporary facilities and involves over 3,200 people.

A Terex-Demag heavy duty mobile crane has been delivered to the construction site this month. The crane will be assembled in Sept. This device can lift as many as 1,250 tons to 150 meters.

During the Aug 20 meeting of the Novovoronezh NPP-2 project office Director General of Atomenergoproekt OJSC Vladimir Generalov said that the new crane would help to optimize the construction work. “The high lifting capacity and the mobility of the crane will help us to quickly transport and install heavy large-size equipment.”

Manager of the Novovoronezh NPP-2 project Alexander Afrov pointed out the positive dynamics of the construction activities. “We are moving ahead of the schedule and I am sure that in Sept Atomenergoproekt will complete the construction of the subsurface parts of the main facilities of the 1st unit and will start mounting the equipment.”

“For this stage we are recruiting new specialized contractor organizations,” Generalov said.
