On 24 August 2009 was announced, that, at the end of H1 2009 the number of broadband Internet subscribers at VolgaTelecom reached 903,600, of which 90% consist of J trade mark users (household Internet users).  Based on Advanced Communications & Media (AC&M Consulting) VolgaTelecom ranks third in terms of household subscribers among Russia’s largest broadband Internet users.  The company’s share of the broadband Internet market in the Volga Federal District is about 60%.

VolgaTelecom’s subscribers have access to a whole range of services and solutions which are intended for legal entities and individuals.  The list includes a set of tariff plans, a large number of content services, technical support for users of various levels and network experience, the rollout of virtual networks and many others.  In 2008 the company introduced new principles and methods for ISP sales:  aside from the regular options there are also such projects as the Dealer’s Sale Center, Personal Consultant, and Internet with Home Delivery.  As for the provision of broadband Internet, in 2008 alone the number of DSL broadband ports in service nearly doubled from 529,900 to 1,028,400.

In order to further roll out its Internet services in 2009 the company completed another stage in the upgrade of its regional multi-service datacom network.  Construction of this network has enabled the company to raise the reliability of datacom provision to its customers, and optimize backbone Internet traffic expenses.

The top priority in development of VolgaTelecom’s broadband Internet business is that of raising the quality of its technical standards, as well as its sales and customer care system.  The company has phased in a monitoring system which makes it possible to track the service and technical status of its Internet access network.  Based on the results of monthly monitoring, measures are being taken to raise the quality of broadband Internet.  The plan is to broaden the range of available services by merging various high-tech solutions and additional services which are associated with the telecom business, i.e. entertainment portals, forums, email and many other solutions.

Taking into account the projected market demands, the company intends to focus on rolling out its high-speed Internet networks using FTTB+Ethernet technology.
