OREANDA-NEWS. On 26 August 2009 was announced, that Belarus’ OAO Olivaria, a brewery based in the city of Minsk, produced 3.771 million decaliters of beer in the first five months of 2009, a decrease of 3.1% on the year, a representative in Belgospischeprom concern told.

In July, Olivaria made 725,000 decaliters of beer, up 2.8% on the year.

Olivaria was using 92.4% of its capacities.

Beer offering in plastic bottles rose 4.9% to 2.529 million decaliters in January-July, in glass bottles decreased 17.9% to 1.021 million decaliters, and in kegs declined 7.1% to 221,000 decaliters.

The brewery accounted for 18.5% of Belarus’ beer production in the first seven months, up 0.8 of a percentage point year-on-year.

Olivaria beer sales amounted to 3.753 million decaliters in January-July, down 0.4%.

Olivaria was founded in 1864 and transformed into a joint stock company in 1994. In December 2006, Sweden’s BBH acquired a 30% stake in Olivaria by purchasing an additional issue of shares for U.S. USD 18.5 million.

Carlsberg A/S acquired a stake in Olivaria through a purchase of a BBH shareholding from Scottish&Newcastle.
