OREANDA-NEWS. August 31, 2009. 1. Inclusion of a Subordinated Loan in the Capital of AB Swedbank. The Board of the Bank of Lithuania granted permission to AB Swedbank to include a subordinated loan of EUR 70 million (an equivalent of LTL 241,696,000) received on 31 August 2006 from the Estonian bank Swedbank AS (previously Hansapank AS) in the bank’s Tier II capital, reported the press-centre of Bank of Lithuania.

The permission to include the said subordinated loan in the bank’s capital was granted already on 7 September 2006. AB Swedbank asked for a new permission due to the changes of certain terms of the subordinated loan agreement made on 24 July 2009. According to the new terms, the term of the 8-year subordinated loan was extended for three years, i.e. until 1 September 2017.

The capital base of AB Swedbank did not change after adopting this decision of the Bank of Lithuania. As at 1 July 2009, it was LTL 2,305.0 million.

2. Declaring Legal Tender and Issue into Circulation of the 50 Litas Commemorative Coin Dedicated to the Tytuvenai Architectural Ensemble (from the Series "Historical and Architectural Monuments of Lithuania")

The Board of the Bank of Lithuania decided to announce the 50 litas commemorative coin dedicated to the Tytuvenai Architectural Ensemble (from the series “Historical and Architectural Monuments of Lithuania”) legal tender and to issue it into circulation on 15 September 2009.

The author of the coin’s graphic design and plaster model is Rytas Jonas Belevicius.

The coins will be minted by UAB „Lietuvos monetu kalykla“ (Lithuanian Mint). The planned mintage of the coin is 10,000 pieces.

3. Approval of the Graphic Designs of the Commemorative Coin Dedicated to the Lithuanian Nature

The Board of the Bank of Lithuania approved the results of the graphic design competition for the 50 litas silver commemorative coin featuring the Lithuanian nature. The first place was granted to the design by Giedrius Paulauskis, with the designs by Vladas Orzekauskas and Liudas Parulskis ranking second and third.

Nine authors took place in the open competition for the graphic design of this commemorative coin.

The Board approved the graphic designs of the obverse and reverse of the 50 litas silver commemorative coin featuring the Lithuanian nature created by Giedrius Paulauskis.

The Board also approved the inscription on the edge of the coin: LIETUVOS GAMTA (twice); dividers - three blossoms of the Lithuanian campion.

It is planned to issue this coin in the fourth quarter of 2009.
