OREANDA-NEWS. September 01, 2009. The average monthly wage in Moldova in January-July 2009 amounted to 2,694.9 leis (US240), up 10.2 per cent in comparison with the same period last year. According to the National Statistics Bureau, the real wage increased by 9.2 per cent. The average salary in the public area amounted to 2,364.2 leis, up 21.5 per cent in comparison with the same period last year, that in the real sector of economy – 2,886 leis, up 6.6 per cent from the same period last year.

The highest salaries in January-July 2009 were earned by employees of the financial sector – 5,606.7 leis, electricity-, gas- and water supplying enterprises – 4,564.9 leis, transport and communications – 3,620.4 leis, transactions with real estate – 3,455 leis, public administration – 3,220.2 leis, extracting industry – 3,254.7 leis.

The lowest wages were in agriculture and forestry – 1,327.3 leis, fishery – 1,492 leis, education – 2,051.3 leis, health care – 2,621.9 leis.. The average wage in Moldova in July 2009 amounted to 2,814.8 leis (US 250). It rose by 4.1 per cent and the real wage – by 4.6 per cent in comparison with July 2008.
