OREANDA-NEWS. September 03, 2009. According to the National Statistics Bureau, the unemployment rate among men and women made up 7.3 per cent and 4.9 per cent, respectively. In the urban area, the unemployment rate was 8 per cent, in the rural – 4.6 per cent.

Unemployment among youth (15-24 years old) amounted to 15.4 per cent. The indicator in the age category of 15-29 years old was 11.1 per cent. The number of the unemployed calculated according to the International Labor Bureau’s methodology totaled about 82,800, up 40,300 than in the second quarter of 2008.

Men and urban residents suffer the most from the unemployment – 60.9 and 57.9 per cent, respectively. In the second quarter of 2009, employed population totaled over 1275.3 thousand people, down 6 per cent against the second quarter of 2008. 69.8 percent of the population worked at enterprises of the private ownership form, 25.7 per cent – public ownership form and 4.5 percent – at enterprises of the mixed ownership form (public and private) and with foreign capital’s share.
