OREANDA-NEWS. September 04, 2009. Yulia Tymoshenko has expressed gratitude to the International Finance Corporation (IFC) for the amount of financial credit resources directed to minimization of the impact of the global economic recession was increased from USD 200 million to UAH 500 million for the private sector of Ukraine without guarantees of the Government. The Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Tymoshenko announced during a briefing on the outcomes of her meeting with Executive Vice President of International Finance Corporation Lars H. Thunell.

“It is very important for us that you have increased more than twofold the amount of financial resources for the following year which is to be obtained by the private sector to ensure the development without guarantees provided by the Government,” Yulia Tymoshenko emphasized.
At this, the Prime Minister underlined that “participation of the International Finance Corporation in the program of providing private companies with financial credit resources under conditions that no guarantees of the Government are provided is a sign that financial economic situation in Ukraine has improved so that powerful investors can come and ensure normal functioning of the financial system”.

In his turn, Executive Vice President of the International Finance Corporation Lars H. Thunell expressed hopes “that the sum in USD 500 million, the company is to invest into Ukrainian economics, will draw much more investments into Ukraine”. “We are prepared and glad to cooperate with the Government of Ukraine, with the private sector of Ukraine and we hope such cooperation will enable Ukraine to faster overcome the fallouts of the world financial crunch,” he emphasized.

At this, Lars H. Thunell stressed that the International Finance Company, that had been operating in Ukraine for 16 years already, apart from investing into Ukraine’s economy renders consultative services, notably concerning introduction of the world standards. Besides, according to him, the company is ready to collaborate with enterprises in the direction of processing of agricultural production and also development of logistic chains in Ukraine by supporting small and average producers. Lars H. Thunell also underlined that aimed at achievement of energy independence by Ukraine and economizing energy resources the company actively cooperates with Ukraine in the area of energy saving and energy effectiveness.
