OREANDA-NEWS. September 04, 2009. RZD Transfer service available at five Moscow stations. The ceremonial launch of the RZD Transfer service was held on Moscow’s Komsomolskaya square. The ceremony involved RZD Vice President Oleg Toni, First Deputy Mayor of Moscow Pyotr Biryukov, RZD Railway Station Management chief Sergei Abramov, and other officials, reported the press-centre of RZD.

Outside the Kazan station, a modern departure and arrivals terminus for transfer buses has been built with zones for passengers including the physically impaired to board and disembark, and sanitary facilities.

The stop on Komsomolskaya Square will service passengers of the Kazansky, Leningradsky, and Yaroslavsky stations. Two other transfer points are in operation on the squares outside the Paveletsky and Belorussky stations.

At the stations, passengers will be able to purchase tickets for international bus routes, and on presenting them will be able to use bus shuttle services free of charge to the following bus stations and sub-stations: Aerovokzal (Leningradsky Prospekt 37, corp. 6), Severnoye Butovo (ul. Starobitsevskaya, vl. 2A, str. 1), Shchyolkovsky (ul. Uralskaya 2), Krasnogvardeyskaya (Orekhovy bulv 24, corp. 11). Passengers will also be able to travel free of charge to the station on presenting a railway ticket.

Sergei Abramov, head of RZD’s Railway Stations Management, explained: "In fulfilling the prime minister’s order on improving work to decriminalize the situation at stations, all illegal bus terminals have now been removed from the squares outside Moscow’s stations.

"Transit of people in faulty transport vehicles has been prevented. Civilized and safe conditions are being created for passengers to travel on inter-city routes."

The project is being carried out as part of an agreement between RZD and the Moscow government "On interaction in the area of meeting the needs of passengers and ensuring their security to a high level of quality at the railway stations of Moscow and neighbouring territories during the period 2009-2011".

Plans are now in place for transit links between all Moscow railway stations and city bus stations.
