OREANDA-NEWS. September 08, 2009. IKEA is planning to build production facilities in Kostroma and Tyumen regions of Russia.

In Kostroma region, the Swedish giant chose a 40 ha production site close to the town of Sharya. In Tyumen region, several alternatives are considered. The company finds a 36 ha site in Ishim municipality the most advantageous, as reported by the company’s PR Director in Russia Oksana Belaychuk.

The investment project entails raw timber processing and manufacturing of furniture components out of birch wood that compose a significant part of IKEA’s products line.

Project deadlines and details have not yet been disclosed.
