OREANDA-NEWS. On 8 September 2009 was announced, that Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko has instructed relevant authorities to upgrade cattle-breeding farms to top standards within five years, the press service of the president reported after Lukashenko’s visit to the Minsk Region.

He visited dairy complex Zazerye and Logoiski farm, reconstructed in 2006-2008.

The president believes Belarusian farms should aim not only at increasing the number of animals, but also at improving the quality of livestock. “Farm produce will always be in demand, and we will make good money if we develop agribusiness,” Lukashenko said.

Agriculture Minister Semyon Shapiro confirmed that Belarusian produce was in demand: in the week ended August 30, three foreign companies ordered large batches of powdered milk from Belarus, and Russian, Ukrainian and Kazakh companies keep negotiating purchases of Belarusian sugar.
