OREANDA-NEWS. On 9 September 2009 was announced, that 21 hotels were to be developed in Moscow this year, 7 among them have been already commissioned.

“The General scheme of hotel locations in Moscow was approved by the city government’s decree in April. It foresees the erection of 289 objects with a total capacity of 75,714,” Vladimir Resin, first deputy Mayor and head of the Integrated Body for Urban Design Policy and Development of Moscow, told in an interview published in the August edition of Moscow & Regions journal.

According to the official, a five-star hotel is under construction at the site of the former Moscow Hotel. Kievskaya and Minsk hotels have been demolished and the areas occupied by them are now ready to be developed. Volga, Pekin and Tsentralnaya hotels are prepared to undergo reconstruction. Design documents for large hotels to be substitutes for the complexes of hotel buildings commissioned in the 1950s, such as Altay, Turist, Ostankino, Zolotoy Kolos, Yaroslavskaya, are being elaborated.

“The projects aimed at building hotels in the park areas of Moscow have been implemented in Kolomenskoe and Tsaritsyno,” Mr Resin added.
