OREANDA-NEWS. September 14, 2009. A Japanese delegation comprising representatives of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, Toshiba Corporation and TEPCO visited Angarsk Electrolysis Chemical Complex (AECC), 100% subsidiary of Atomenergoprom OJSC, Sept 11–13 2009. The delegates were accompanied by a group of representatives of Rosatom State Nuclear Energy Corporation, led by Deputy Director General Pyotr Schedrovitsky.

The key objective of the Japanese guests was to see the Russian uranium conversion and enrichment technologies. The visit was part of the May 12 2009 joint statement of Rosatom State Nuclear Energy Corporation and the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan for cooperation in the field of peaceful use of nuclear energy.

The guests were told about AECC’s projects and technologies.

They visited the chemical and separation plants, Chelnok uranium hexafluoride transfer system and the Central Laboratory. The parties discussed the prospects of the Russian-Japanese cooperation on nuclear fuel cycle.

The guests highly evaluated AECC’s industrial and ecological safety systems and its successful experience of use of automated environment control systems and practice of publication of annual reports on ecological safety. Director of AECC Alexander Belousov pointed out that industrial and ecological safety were among the key priorities of the company.
