OREANDA-NEWS. September 18, 2009. III international telecommunications, telemetry, information technology and broadcast equipment exhibition Turkmentel-2009 and the Turkmenistan and Global Telecommunications System international scientific conference are opened at the Exhibition Centre in Ashgabat. The organizers of the international forum are the Ministry of Communications, the Academy of Sciences and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan.

Development of telecommunications sector and information technologies guide Turkmenistan’s economic progress and are at the forefront of the historic reforms taking place in the country. Development of mobile communication, information technologies, equipment of educational institutions with multimedia technologies and procurement of modern broadcast equipment are the major trends in the investment activity in Turkmenistan. The international exhibition is to provide a platform for establishing fruitful contacts and furthering mutually advantageous cooperation.

The high-ranking officials of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan, the cabinet ministers, the heads of the diplomatic missions and international organisations accredited to Turkmenistan, and numerous guests including the specialists of the foreign companies, which actively operate on the Turkmen market, and journalists took part in the ceremony of opening the technology forum.

The welcoming statement of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to participants was presented at the international exhibition. In particular, the Turkmen leader underscored the role of telecommunications systems in the modern world and the significance attached by Turkmenistan to development of this sector that accumulates scientific advances and latest engineering thought.

The Turkmen leader emphasized that the demand in new additional services provided by state-of-the-art technologies, in particular connection to the internet and an access to information networks and computer systems, increased today. The Turkmen leader wished fruitful work to the forum participants and expressed belief that the international exhibition and conference would further enhance international cooperation.

During three days the visitors can get acquainted with the exposition including divided into several sections. The major thematic sections are information technologies, telecommunications, telemetry and measuring equipment, wireless communications, professional audio and video recording equipment, cable products and components.

The large-scale exhibition arranged at the largest in Central Asia Exhibition Centre includes the pavilions of equipment manufacturers and service providers from 20 countries worldwide including Russia, Great Britain, Switzerland, Germany, Turkey, Ukraine, Belarus, Kazakhstan, the United States, Cyprus, the UAE, Austria, China, Georgia, Lithuania, Iran. Among them are many world-renowned large companies that offer latest innovative technologies and know-how SIEMENS, Moscow Teleport, ITERANET, ISKRATEL, Evrasia trans, ZTE, BCTI, HUAWEI TECHNOLOGIES, CALIK ENERGY, ADVIS, etc.

The pavilions of showcase development and technology modernization of the sector, expansion of the range of services, improvement of the quality of service, told the pavilions of domestic telecommunication workers – the Ministry of Communication of Turkmenistan, the Turkmentelekom State Telecommunications Company, Teleradiomerkezi State Enterprise, Turkmenpochta State Mail Service Company, mobile communication companies of Altyn Asyr. In particular, the MTS Turkmenistan Company presents innovative services based on the third generation mobile communication – 3G technology that allow using 3G Internet, watching mobile TV programmes, making calls with simultaneous transmission of video data.

In the afternoon the International scientific conference "Turkmenistan and Global Telecommunications Systems started to work in the conference hall of the Exhibition Centre. The agenda focuses on the current issues of development of the communications sector and establishment of the constructive and fruitful dialogue with all interested partners. The conference provided the platform for the representatives of the world-renowned companies, Turkmen and foreign scientists, telecommunications experts to exchange views in the light of the vast opportunities opened up in Turkmenistan today.

The participants noted that wide-scale introduction of scientific and technological advances and profitable technologies, in particular telecommunications technologies, in all the spheres of national life, was an approach taken by modern Turkmenistan to national development that enabled the country to ensure economic progress. Today high information technologies are used widely by the strategic sectors of Turkmen economy, particularly oil and gas sector, energy, textile and chemical industries. Particular attention is paid to the use of information technologies in the educational processes – numerous specialized laboratories of the higher schools are supplied with modern equipment.
