OREANDA-NEWS. September 22, 2009. Svetlana Levchenko, the Head of the Department for Control over Foreign Investments took part in the conference on the "Recent Trends in the Russian Mergers& Acquisitions Market", organized by the Association of European Business (АЕB) in Russia, reported the press-centre of FAS Russia.

Svetlana Levchenko made a presentation about the first results and practical problems of control over foreign investments in economic entities of strategic importance for national defence and state security. She underlined typical errors of foreign investors filing petitions and notifications.

"Pretty often we see petitions accompanied by incomplete set of documents, which generates further correspondence with the petitioner and results in extending the period of processing petitions by the Federal Antimonopoly Service", said Svetlana Levchenko.

The conference was also attendee by such leading companies as M&A Expert, KPMG, Finance Consult Russia Ltd, Dewey & LeBoeuf LLP, Interross, Beiten Burkhardt, Troika Dialog, VTB Capital, Ernst & Young (CIS) BV, Deloitte, Mazars, Allen&Overy, Banque Societe Generale Vostok, CMS Russia and other members of the Association of European Business, as well as representatives of the delegation of the European Commission and embassies of the EU states.

The conference discussed the problems related to control over foreign investments in Russia and the CIS states, and their possible solutions.
