OREANDA-NEWS. September 24, 2009. The State Statistics Committee has informed that for Jan-Aug 2009 country’s manufacture of chemical products dropped by 48.1% (compared to the 2008 same term), although in January slump was 57.5%, in March 79.7%, April 78.4%, May 59.8% and June 51%, July 52.1%.

Against this background production of rubber and plastics increased by 1.2% in April versus rise of 54.6% in March and 59.8% in January, and drop of 20.2% in August, 19.3% in July, 13.3% in June and 9.3% in May.

“For Jan-Aug 2009 chemical production totaled AZN 57.3 million (including AZN 50.2 million in August, AZN 6.9 million in July, 12.6 million in June, AZN 12.5 million in May, AZN 1.7 million in April and AZN 2.7 million in March, AZN 204.1 million for 2008) and manufacture of rubber and plastics AZN 34.7 million (including AZN 8 million in August, AZN 22.4 million in July, AZN 4.7 million in June, AZN 4.8 in May, AZN 3.9 million in April, AZN 61.4 million for 2008,” it was reported.

For Jan-Aug of the year production of liquid caustic soda (its output was not made in January and February) totaled 4.788 million tons (-68.7% against the 2008 same term).

Manufacture of propylene made 10,000 tons (-52.4%), polyethylene 19,200 tons (-49.5%), isopropylene alcohol 5,900 tons (-59.1%), varnish-and-paint products 1,100 tons (-38.5%). Chloric acid was not produced for Jan-Aug at all.

Production of plastic bags, pipes and other items from hard polyethylene totaled 1,526 tons (-41%), plastic window and door frames 315 tons (-47.3%), artificial coverings from cellulose or protein 176.6 tons (-28.4%).

As of 1st September 2009, cost of ready chemical products at enterprises’ warehouses reduced by AZN 200,000 in August and reached AZN 23.7 million or 12.9% of overall balance of ready industrial products.
