OREANDA-NEWS. September 28, 2009. Mr. Aloyzas Koryzna, CEO of Lietuvos Energija has been approved as Board Member of ENTSO-E – an organization uniting European Transmission System operators (TSOs). The candidacy of Mr. Koryzna has also been endorsed by TSOs of Latvia and Estonia.

The establishment of ENTSO-E has significantly boosted cooperation among European TSOs. Active participation in this organization is important while reinforcing operation security, reliability and integrity of European electricity transmission systems, seeking interconnection of the Baltic States with the electricity system of the European Union”, - said Mr. A. Koryzna, CEO of Lietuvos Energija.

According to Mr. A. Koryzna, ENTSO-E is highly important in the coordination of positions of EU transmission system operators as regards issues of electricity market, which is highly important in the implementation of Third Energy Package principles, harmonization of power sector rules and practices among separate countries. ENTSO-E position is also important in highlighting and development of priority projects of European electricity sector.

Some of the strategic electricity projects, significant for Lithuania are power links with Sweden and Poland, interconnection for synchronous operation with West European electricity system, strengthening of domestic grid while creating Baltic energy ring and common Baltic electricity market. The priority Lithuanian power projects of strengthening the domestic grid are the construction of 330 kV Klaipeda-Telsiai overhead line and development of Klaipeda transformer substation, interconnection of 330 kV overhead lines Jurbarkas-Sovetsk and Klaipeda-Sovetsk.
