OREANDA-NEWS. September 29, 2009. In production of billets in the Blooming-2 the head of a cogged ingot had fissure.

This type of defect occurred after cutting the defective parts of a bloom on the 1250-ton shears and subsequent rolling on the stand No.1 of the mill 900. Conditions of rolling in the cage No.1 did not allow complete elimination of this type of defect with the originally designed rolling bar. This type of defect affected the quality of the surface of the first billet and yield.

To eliminate that defect we developed and put in operation the fundamentally new lead-in rolling bar of the stand No.1 combined with the leading chute at the cage.
