OREANDA-NEWS. September 30, 2009. President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov received Vice Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus V. P. Burya, who had arrive din the Turkmen capital to take part in the meeting of the Turkmen-Belarusian intergovernmental commission for trade and economic cooperation.

Heartily greeting the Turkmen leader the guest congratulated Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on the success of his speech at the 64th session of the UN General Assembly and the highest award of the International Informatization Academy “For the Contribution to Development of Information Society” and emphasized that this award vividly proved the worldwide recognition of the Turkmen leader’s services.

Thanking for the cordial words Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov addressed the best wishes to the leadership and peoples of the friendly country and stated that he was going to pay a visit to Belarus.

During the meeting the President of Turkmenistan and his guest exchanged views on the essential aspects of bilateral cooperation and the prospects for its further development in accordance with the agreements reached during the Belarusian leader’s visit to Turkmenistan thus June. Highly evaluating the level of the traditionally friendly Turkmen-Belarusian relations that had been brought up to a higher level today, the sides expressed the willingness to intensify mutually advantageous partnership in the whole spectrum. The priority fields included agriculture. In this regard Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov noted that over the past years the material and technical base of the agro-industry sector in Turkmenistan had been substantial strengthen through buying high-quality agricultural machines from the Belarusian partners.

The focus of the talks was trade and economic cooperation. Putting emphasis on the need to intensify collaboration in this field the sides called for further enhancing trade cooperation on an equal and mutually beneficial basis. The key fields of bilateral partnership included construction, processing and chemical industries.

The sides focused on need to foster humanitarian cooperation. Reaffirming the mutual interest in deepening contact in the spheres of education, science, culture, tourism the Turkmen leader and the Belarusian high-ranking official called for intensifying collaboration in these fields.

In conclusion the President of Turkmenistan expressed belief that fruitful Turkmen-Belarusian cooperation would be successful developed noting that there were the requisites and potential for that.
