OREANDA-NEWS. October 2, 2009. Under the program “Pulkovo for children” a tour for pupils from school 238 (Admiralteiskiy district) took place.

A two-hour tour on the airdrome and in the terminals became a fascinating trip for pupils of the 7th grade. The first stop was on the second ramp where children could observe takeoffs and landings of aircrafts in immediate proximity.

Children continued acquaintance with aircrafts on the third ramp (Pulkovo-2). During the conversation guests got to know about the development and exploitation of aircrafts IL-86, TU-154 and also could see these legendary “iron birds” alive.

Children also met real birds during their visit of ornithologist base that is situated in the south part of the airport. Raven and a group of falcons who live in the nursery made a vivid impression on children. Ornithologists told their guests about birds’ trainings for their work in the airport, about the schedule of work and rest of unusual employees.

This tour came to an end on the first ramp where the guests were told about architectural features of Pulkovo-1 terminal, about the satellites and underground travelators.
