OREANDA-NEWS. October 08, 2009. The fifth annual meeting of the Clinton Global Initiative (CGI), organisation founded by Ex-President of the USA Bill Clinton, took place in New York City. The major shareholder of Baltic International Bank Valeri Belokon participated in the forum at the personal invitation of President Bill Clinton, reported the press-centre of Baltic International Bank.

Clinton Global Initiative is the annual forum that joins more than 100 world leaders from government, business, and civil society as well as the recipients of the Nobel Peace Prize. It is the only global-scale forum where its participants come together to turn ideas into action.

This year, world leaders have paid much attention to harnessing innovation for development, strengthening infrastructure, developing human capital, and financing a sustainable future.

This year, CGI has introduced the United Nations Summit on Climate Change, where the UN states government leaders discussed how to change the economies of countries to eliminate greenhouse gas emissions, as well as Pittsburgh G-20 summit at which the heads of 20 developing countries gathered to discuss topical global problems.
