OREANDA-NEWS. October 09, 2009. As it was informed at the National Statistics Bureau that the Moldovan export had totaled US 790 million in January-August this year, down 24.2 percent against the same period last year. Export to the CIS totaled US 286.1 million, down 27.6 percent. Moldovan production supplies to the EU states reduced by 22.4 percent – to US 423.7 million.

Import to Moldova in January-August of 2009 totaled US 1 billion 996.6 million, down 38.3 percent against the same period last year. Import to Moldova from the CIS decreased by 36 percent – to US 721.6 million, from the EU countries – by 39.2 percent to US 865.3 million. The deficit of the balance of trade of Moldova with the EU countries reduced by 49.6 percent in January-August 2009 in comparison with the same period of 2008, with CIS countries – by 40.6 percent – to US 435.5 million.

The largest deficit of the balance of trade in January-August of this year was with Ukraine - US 228.8 million. It was followed by Kazakhstan – US 151.6 million, China - US 135.7 million, Germany – US 107.5 million, Turkey - US 86 million, Italy - US 51.8 million, Russia - US 34.7 million, Romania - US 31.6 million, Austria - US31.5 million, Poland - US 30 million, Belarus - US 28.5 million.
