OREANDA-NEWS. October 12, 2009. The Board of Lietuvos Energija resolved to propose to the shareholders at the general meeting, scheduled for October 23, that they approve the resolution for the company to become the shareholder of a cross-border interconnection company Interlinks so that Lietuvos Energija could acquire 100 per cent of its shares from LEO LT.

It is now most important that the preparatory work for the interconnection project between Lithuania and Sweden, which has gained the momentum, would be implemented on time”, - says Mr. Aloyzas Koryzna, Chief Executive Officer of Lietuvos Energija.

Currently the Baltic seabed study is being carried out both on Swedish and Lithuanian economic areas by the Swedish company Marin Matteknik. According to the timetable, the works at sea will be performed until the end of October and upon their completion within two months data will be processed and study report will be completed.

The goal of InterLinks, the company established in July 2008, is development and implementation of interconnection projects between energy systems of Lithuania and other countries.

The key area of its activity – preparation of project studies, strategic and investment planning, implementation of preparatory project works, organization and coordination of construction of electricity infrastructure, control and risk management of companies in charge of relevant projects. Currently the company employs a staff of 3 people. The main ongoing project of the company – interconnection between Lithuanian and Swedish power systems – NORDBALT.
