OREANDA-NEWS. October 13, 2009. As a part of the bank’s continuous expansion plans in Estonia, Nordea Bank opened its new Estonian headquarters on Liivalaia Street in Tallinn, reported the press-centre of Nordea Bank.

„For a bank, having one’s own house is of sign value,“ head of Nordea Estonia Vahur Kraft said. „We have long been waiting for the Nordea Maja (Nordea House). Now it is ready and represents a landmark for both our clients and employees.“

Nordea Bank has attained the third position in Estonian banking market. As the largest Nordic bank, Nordea has stood for the stable growth strategy demonstrated by the quality of the loan portfolio as well as the continuing increase in the loan volume.

„For Nordea, moving into the new headquarters signifies the beginning of a new era. In a building constructed for the needs of a bank we can now better focus on the execution of our plans and objectives,“ Kraft added.

The bank is renting the first nine storeys of the 13-floor building. Client service space is located on the ground floor. In addition to the customer service area, the rented 5600 square meters also include the back office for the bank, Nordea Leasing and Nordea Pensions.

The building was designed by architects Emil Urbel and Indrek Erm and interior designer Tiit Jurna. Nordea Maja was built by Nordecon International AS.

Due to the opening of the new house, the Ajakirjandusmaja branch office moved to Nordea Maja. The Hobujaama branch office in the former headquarters will continue to serve customers.
Nordea Maja is located in Tallinn at Liivalaia 45/47.

Nordea Bank Estonia is part of the biggest Nordic financial group. The group has around 10 million customers, approximately 1,400 branch offices and a leading netbanking position with 5.3 million e-customers. The noted financial publication Global Finance ranked Nordea Bank at the top of world’s most trustworthy banks. Nordea is the only bank in the Estonian market to have been listed among the 25 most secure banks in the world.
