OREANDA-NEWS. October 14, 2009. The Republic of Komi has plans to build 4,430 km of new woodland roads by 2020, Governor Vladimir Torlopov said.

The cost of construction is a reported USD 1.1bn.  According to the governor, it will be covered from federal and regional coffers, and by timber businesses on a private-public partnership (PPP) basis.

The investment is expected to help timber companies more than double wood felling to 16 million cu. m a year by 2017 already, Mr. Torlopov said. The region’s wood-felling quota is a reported 27 million cu. m per year.
