OREANDA-NEWS. October 14, 2009. Lietuvos Energija has been granted a right to perform the functions of a planning organizer for the preparation of a special plan within the scope of the construction of a Lithuanian-Polish power link.  The special plan will be prepared for 400 kV overhead power transmission line from Alytus transformer substation to the border of Poland. The overall length of the line on the Lithuanian side will reach 48 km.

This permit from the Ministry of Energy is a highly important step towards preparation of territorial planning documents for the construction of the Lithuanian-Polish power link. It enables Lietuvos Energija to address municipalities and other institutions regarding issuance of planning conditions and to expedite preparatory procedures of the special plan”, - says Mr. Aloyzas Koryzna, CEO of Lietuvos Energija.

A consultant, selected by LitPol Link, the company in charge of the preparatory work of the Lithuanian and Polish power link, will be responsible for the preparation of the special plan.

Upon engagement of the company, in charge of the preparation of the plan, the resolution regarding functions of the special plan organizer provides a solid foundation in order to correctly perform all works stipulated by legal acts. We aim to finalize the procurement procedure for this work within the upcoming week”, - said Mr. Jaroslav Neverovic, Chairman of the Board of LitPol Link.  According to him, the project is performed in close cooperation with experts of Lietuvos Energija, functioning solutions of the power link are coordinated with PSE Operator – transmission system operator of Poland.

In 2009 LitPol Link prepared terms of reference for consultants and published tenders for the performance of environmental impact assessment regarding the construction possibilities on the Lithuanian side and the feasibility study for the rehabilitation of the existing Alytus transformer substation.

The special plan is expected by the end of 2010.
